Central Kitsap Tops Bellarmine

Bellarmine surrendered its first runs of the season in its first loss, a 4-3 walk-off defeat at Central Kitsap on March 23 that dropped the Lions to 2-1 overall.

Kelly McLaughlin gave Bellarmine a 3-1 lead with a two-run homer to right center in the top of the fifth, but the Cougars answered with two unearned runs to tie it in the bottom of the inning. Starting pitcher Caylee Coulter then won it with a leadoff homer in the bottom of the seventh. Courtney Schwan pitched a complete game for Bellarmine to pick up the loss, giving up just one earned run on eight hits, while striking out seven and walking two batters.
