Wilson cruises past Kennedy to advance to district title game

Wilson broke lose midway through the second quarter to cruise to a 66-44 win over Kennedy Catholic at Clover Park High School to advance to the 3A district finals.

Myah Williams - who led Kennedy with 19 points - drove for a layup to cut the Rams' lead to 24-20 with 3:09 until halftime.

But freshman Josie Matz answered with a three-point play, and her late three-pointer helped the Rams take a 35-21 lead at halftime. Matz's back-to-back threes midway through the third helped create a 44-27 cushion, and the Rams cruised the rest of the way.

Matz finished with a team-high 22 points, while Kiara Knox had 18 points and 16 rebounds,Violet Morrow added 12 points and 13 rebounds and Tyra Foster finished with six points and 10 rebounds for Wilson.

The Rams will face the Lincoln/Prairie winner on Saturday night at 8 p.m. at Pacific Lutheran University for the district title.
