It was another outstanding night on the court for Tacoma hoops on Wednesday night, as the local Narrows League 3A boys and girls teams went a combined 5-0. Perhaps most impressive was the Lincoln girls’ 52-34 dismantling of SPSL No. 1 seed Auburn Mountainview, earning the Lady Abes a berth in the state regionals. The Wilson Lady Rams easily dispatched Bonney Lake 72-41, also earning a trip to the regionals.
On the boys’ side, Lincoln traveled down south to take care of Columbia River 54-39, Foss outlasted Kennedy Catholic 77-67 and Wilson rolled to a 57-37 win over Auburn Mountainview in their playoff opener. All three teams earned berths into the state regionals.
So far in district play, the three Narrows League girls teams from Tacoma (Bellarmine Prep, Lincoln, Wilson) and five boys teams (Bellarmine Prep, Stadium, Wilson, Lincoln, Foss) have gone a combined 14-0. The slate switches back to 4A play on Thursday evening, and it will be a tough task to keep that combined record unblemished. Stadium faces SPSL South champion Todd Beamer (18-4), the Bellarmine Prep boys face undefeated SPSL North champ Kentridge (23-0) and the Lions' girls take on SPSL South champ Todd Beamer (22-1). Also of note, Curtis' boys play against South Kitsap for the fifth seed to state regionals, with another chance for a berth on Saturday if they lose to the Wolves.
