Ahmaad Rorie had 23 points and Tre’Shaun Fletcher added 20 points to lead the Lincoln Abes to a hard fought 66-57 over the Foss Falcons on Friday night at the Lincoln Gym.
The Falcons set the tone first, with constant double teams of both Rorie and Fletcher, which made the high scoring Lincoln duo work hard for each one of their points in the opening half of play.
On the offensive end, Foss showed a lot of patience and utilized the inside duo of both Dezmyn Trent and Olashawan Miller to combine for 17 first-half points as the teams went into the locker room tied 30-30. Fletcher was held to just 5 first-half points and Rorie led Lincoln with 13.
The Abes turned up the heat a little n the second half and turned a two-point third quarter lead into a nine-point lead midway through the fourth quarter. Trent lost his radar from long range, and would foul out with 2:52 left and no one left to fill the void left by his departure. Trent would lead the Falcons with 19 points, with Miller tallying 14 points and Tamariye Nelson chipping in with 10.
The 300 or more fans who were turned away during the game because of a lack of seats would do well to show up early on Jan. 30 to see what should be another thriller between these talented rivals, as each could be calling the Tacoma Dome home in the first week of March.
