Brady O’Keefe scattered six hits over 5.2 innings and went 3-for-4 with two RBI’s as the Wilson Rams defeated the Stadium Tigers 8-3 in a non-league game Monday afternoon at Wilson Field.
O’Keefe, who didn’t have his best stuff working for him, found ways to get out of trouble early. But when he found his groove in the middle innings, the Wilson bats took charge with a four-run sixth inning to open up a 4-2 lead.
Ryder DeStunder did his part to keep Stadium close, surrendering a lone run in the first inning. That held up until the fifth when the Rams erupted for four runs to make it 8-2 and essentially wrap it up for Wilson.
Stadium had a chance to do damage in the top of the fifth with two outs and runners at first and second, but Rams reliever Evan Stout got Tyler Myers to fly out to Robbie Rhoads in center field to end the Stadium threat and preserve the 4-2 lead.
With the win the Rams improved to 2-1 on the year with a date at Bellarmine on Thursday afternoon. Stadium fell to 1-2 with the loss.
