From the very start against Mountlake Terrace, Lincoln was focused and hitting their shots. And, as always, they got monster contributions from Tre’Shaun Fletcher and Ahmaad Rorie.
Fletcher scored 29 points – 18 in the first half – and Rorie hit four three-pointers and tallied 21 points as the Abes cruised to a 68-47 win over the Hawks in the 3A state tournament tonight at the Tacoma Dome.
Rorie’s three just over midway through the first quarter put Lincoln up 10-4, and they led 16-9 at the end of the first after Fletcher nailed a jumper at the buzzer. Fletcher continued to be on fire at the start of the second, scoring seven points in the first two minutes, including a three-pointer that put Lincoln up 25-11 with 5:55 until halftime. Rorie took over late in the half, nailing a three-pointer and a late jumper to give the Abes a 36-21 lead at the break.
The Hawks, meanwhile, struggled offensively, and would finish shooting just 31 percent from the field in the game. The lead kept on growing for the Abes in the third quarter, as Rorie’s three two minutes in put them up 42-23, and Fletcher fed Justice Martion for an easy layup to make it 44-23 30 seconds later.
Fletcher finished a scorching 10-for-14 from the field, and added a game-high 13 rebounds to his totals. He emphasized his performance with the second of his two dunks – after missing one early in the contest – off a feed from Ar’Mond Davis to make it 59-37 with six minutes left. The Abes finished 26-for-50 from the field as a team.
The Abes now advance to the semifinals on Friday at 9 p.m., where they await the winner between University and Lakeside.
