Minus star guard Ar’Mond Davis, Foss rallied from eight points down in just over two minutes to earn a 50-47 win over North Thurston at home tonight.
Trailing 45-37 with 2:30 to go, Roberto Gittens nailed a jumper in the lane to start a quick spurt for the Falcons. Sam Dabalos-McMahon hit a three-pointer on the next possession, and added a quick steal and layup to cut it to 47-44. After a steal and dunk by Gittens, the Falcons trailed 47-46 with 1:29 to play. They regained a 49-47 lead on Gittens’ three-point play after converting a layup from a nifty pass from Olashawan Miller.
McMahon, who finished with a team-high 17 points, hit two three-pointers in the first quarter to help Foss to a 9-6 lead. But the Rams responded by outscoring the Falcons 15-9 the rest of the half, as Darin Sroor was 7-for-7 from the field for 14 of his game-high 18 points in the half. Foss, meanwhile, was just 6-for-24 from the field in the first two quarters, and trailed 21-18 at the break.
Foss began to find some success in the third quarter behind Miller, who scored 7 of his 13 points in the period. Gittens, meanwhile, scored seven of his 10 points in the fourth quarter to help give the Falcons a spark.
