Foss hung tough with Stanwood well into the second half, but the Spartans pulled away for a 73-55 win on Saturday evening in the 3A boys basketball regionals at Kent Meridian High School.
The Falcons' Ar'Mond Davis scored 16 of his team-high 22 points in the first half, including a three-pointer with two seconds until the break to pull within 29-25.
But Stanwood guard Josh Thayer consistently penetrated the lane with ease, finishing with 19 points and providing tough defense on Davis. The Spartans' Skout Robertson was dominant in the middle, scoring 21 points and adding 11 rebounds.
Sam Dabalos-McMahon scored nine points in the third quarter to keep Foss close, including a leaner a minute into the third quarter to tie it 29-29.
But Thayer nailed a three-pointer - his fourth of the night - early in the fourth quarter to complete a 26-14 run and give Stanwood some space.
