Dominant fourth quarter helps Lady Rams clinch district title

Bethany Montgomery led the way for the Lady Rams with 18 points, and Wilson ran away and hid in the second half and captured the West Central District 3A title with a convincing 68-42 win over the Prairie Falcons at the Showare Center in Kent this afternoon.

Tia Briggs added 16 points, Kapri Morrow had 14 points, and Justina Laney had 12 points as Wilson totally dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring Prairie 22-6.

The Lady Rams will host the fifth seed from the West Central District next Friday night at Mount Tahoma at 8 p.m. in the WIAA State Regionals.

In a nip-and-tuck first half, Prairie kept pace with the up-tempo Lady Rams until the early part of the second quarter, when Briggs and Morrow led Wilson to a 10-point halftime lead at 36-26.

The third quarter started slow for both teams, but as the fourth stanza got underway, the Lady Rams put it in overdrive and never looked back. The Lady Ram defense took over, shutting down the Prairie duo of Aislinn Konig and Cori Woodward, who led the Falcons with 16 and 11 points, respectively. These seniors who started the ball rolling four years ago now stand just one win away from the Tacoma Dome and a possible date with destiny.
