Defensive Lions take league lead with win over Stadium

Lucas Meikle was a one-man wrecking crew on Friday night, scoring 25 points and leading the Bellarmine Prep Lions to a 51-33 win over the Stadium Tigers to take over the lead in the Narrows 4A with a record of 6-1.

Bellarmine took control early in the contest and never looked back, with a 13-7 first quarter lead that expanded to as much as 20 points early in the fourth quarter. Stadium had no answer all night long for the swarming, trapping defense the Lions threw at them, as Eric Anderson-Connolly would lead the Tigers with 11 points on the night.

With both South Kitsap on the road next Wednesday and a date with the top-ranked Lincoln Abes visiting the Booster Gym next Friday night, head coach Bernie Salazar has his hands full just thinking about them.

Tre’Shaun Fletcher, Ahmaad Rorie, Lucas Meikle and Sefo Liufau all on the same court sounds like a great recipe for some tremendous basketball action next week at Bellarmine.
