Balanced attack helps Wilson top Foss to stay perfect

Wilson took a double-digit lead at halftime, and overcame a third-quarter onslaught by Foss’ Ar’Mond Davis for a 72-58 win over the Falcons tonight to move to 11-0 on the season.

The Rams’ Jamal Welch – who finished with a team-high 19 points and 10 rebounds – scored nine points in the first quarter as Wilson shot out to a 17-10 lead. Alphonso Anderson, who finished with 17 points and eight rebounds, extended it to 23-12 with a layup with 6:26 until halftime. Wilson led 31-19 at the break.

But Davis – who was just 1-for-9 from the field in the first half – drained three three-pointers in the third quarter, and tallied 17 points in the period to keep the Falcons in it. His rebound and three-point play with 1:39 left in the period pulled the Falcons within 45-38, and they trailed just 45-40 heading into the fourth. Davis finished with a game-high 31 points and added 12 rebounds.

Montre Brown regained a double-digit lead, at 51-40, for the Rams with a three-pointer less than a minute into the final period. Welch’s rebound and put-back off of his own missed free throw capped a 19-4 run that helped the Rams seal it, giving them a 64-44 lead with 3:20 remaining.
