Olashawan Miller dominated in the first quarter, and Ar'Mond Davis led the charge the rest of the way as Foss cruised to a 71-52 win over Prairie in their 3A bi-district opener this afternoon at Rogers High School.
Miller scored all 13 of his points in the first quarter, as his layup at the 2:54 mark gave Foss a 15-2 lead. The Falcons led 22-8 at the end of the first quarter, as Prairie committed 12 turnovers in the period and had just six shot attempts. Prairie finished with 28 turnovers in the game.
But James Phillips scored 10 of his team-high 21 points to help pull Prairie back within 27-22 midway through the second quarter. Foss took a 35-24 lead into halftime on Davis lay-in at the buzzer.
Davis - who finished with a game-high 32 points - scored 15 points in the third quarter, including 10 during a16-3 run by Foss that put the game away.
Chris Reynolds added 14 points and seven rebounds for Foss, and Sam Dabalos-McMahon hit two threes and tallied eight points.
Foss advances to face Kennedy Catholic in the quarterfinals on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at Rogers High School.
