With a late surge in the second quarter, Ballard took control and maintained it through the second half to top Stadium 10-5 in the Division II High School Lacrosse playoffs last night at Stadium Bowl.

The Beavers got on the board first when Josh Schwartzenberger took a pass from behind the goal and slammed in a point-blank shot with 9:43 left in the first quarter. The Tigers’ Noah Leonard equalized four minutes later, moving left past a defender and scoring from 25 yards out. Jacob Marks regained the lead for Ballard with a nifty spinning goal with three minutes left in the first.

Audrey Lindberg answered in the bottom half with a two-run single for the Tides to cut it to 5-4, but Bellarmine Prep starter Rachel Barcena then retired 14 batters in a row.

Bellarmine Prep’s second-round, loser-out game versus Battle Ground, which began on Friday at 4 p.m., was set to resume again – after the teams played just over two innings on Saturday morning – this morning at 10 a.m. The Lions had taken a 3-1 lead in the top of the seventh, and had allowed a walk to lead off the bottom half as they looked to close it out. Should they win the Lions would face…

Kentlake used a four-run third inning to take control, and outlasted Bellarmine Prep 6-3 in the Lions' district opener this morning at Sprinker Recreation Center.

Starting pitcher Leilei Robinson got the Falcons on the board with a two-run single in the third off Bellarmine starter Courtney Schwan. Regan Rudisill followed with a run-scoring groundout, and Crystal Knight's single to score Robinson made it 4-0. The Falcons made it 6-0 in the fourth on Kellie Nielsen's two-run triple to left center.

Bellarmine Prep and Wilson are ready to hit the field for the start of the 4A and 3A Bi-District softball tournaments, which begin on Friday morning at Sprinker Recreation Center in Parkland.

Bellarmine earned the Narrows 4A number-two seed to districts, and will face Kentlake – the seventh seed from the SPSL – at 10 a.m. in the opening round.
