Lady Abes get walk-off win over Crusaders

Senior pitcher Maryssa Tippett hit two two-run homeruns and was 3-for-4 with five runs batted in, and Lincoln took a 10-9 walk-off win over Tacoma Baptist this afternoon at the SERA Athletic Fields.

Tied 9-9 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Abes’ Ashley Alexander and Sasheta Green drew walks, and Heidi Leeper was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Kayla Aronholt then stepped up and lined a pitch into center field to drive in Alexander, giving Lincoln its first win of the season.

Tippett had helped give the Abes a 7-3 lead with her first two-run homer – a blast…

Drew Barker’s goal from 35 yards out in the 55th minute gave the Bellarmine Prep Lions the go-ahead goal, propelling them to a 3-1 win over the South Kitsap Wolves on Monday afternoon at Bellarmine Memorial Field.

The Lions dominated the play in the midfield, and also had great success with overlapping defenders for most of the evening against the Wolves.

Bellarmine coach Joe Waters noted that he is beginning to see some real signs of life in his young squad. “We’re really improving as a squad after some tough early losses against Gig Harbor and Central Kitsap,” he said.…

Missing a couple of key bats, Bellarmine Prep turned to freshman Alyssa McKiernan to provide some key offense today. McKiernan had a run-scoring single in the third inning and scored the winning run on Courtney Schwan’s single in the bottom of the sixth to help give the Lions a 2-1 win over Gig Harbor at home.

The Lions knew they were in for a challenge right off the bat, as they were missing senior shortstop Alexa Ostrander due to illness and senior first baseman Alex DeStephano to a knee injury. Furthermore, they were facing Tides’ ace pitcher Anna Hitt, who locked up with Schwan…

Loggers complete sweep of Lutes

Starting pitcher Nathan Aguiar threw 5.2 innings of four-hit ball and relievers Steve Wagar and Lucas Stone threw 3.1 innings of shutout baseball to preserve a 6-3 win for the Puget Sound baseball team over PLU on Sunday afternoon, giving the Loggers a weekend sweep of the three-game series over their crosstown rivals.

The Loggers jumped to an early 6-0 lead after four innings behind two Lute errors that led to three unearned runs. The PLU bats, which were silenced by Aguiar’s no-hit bid through four innings, began to come to life in the fifth inning. A run-scoring single by Garrett…

O’Keefe leads Wilson past Stadium

Brady O’Keefe scattered six hits over 5.2 innings and went 3-for-4 with two RBI’s as the Wilson Rams defeated the Stadium Tigers 8-3 in a non-league game Monday afternoon at Wilson Field.

O’Keefe, who didn’t have his best stuff working for him, found ways to get out of trouble early. But when he found his groove in the middle innings, the Wilson bats took charge with a four-run sixth inning to open up a 4-2 lead.

Ryder DeStunder did his part to keep Stadium close, surrendering a lone run in the first inning. That held up until the fifth when the Rams erupted for four…
