Janece Levien started out at UPS as a defensive specialist. What a good idea to move her to forward.
Janece Levien just broke the school scoring record at the University of Puget Sound in women’s soccer. But she is really just as happy to be talking about her new favorite sport, the one that Tiger plays, the one that her friends among the caddies at Chambers Bay (where she worked all summer) are helping teach her. Stadium leads most of the game, but falters at end
Stadium coach Jess Nelson was in the stands at Husky Stadium along with his college roommate last weekend when the University of Washington pulled off its historic upset of USC. The night before he was on the sidelines at the Lincoln Bowl for the 94th edition of the oldest football game in Tacoma, watching his own team take a 10-point lead with 6:49 left in the fourth quarter against Lincoln, and there was an unfamiliar feeling on the sideline among the Tigers players and the coaches that they would win the game. Vikings make big plays for fallen teammate to beat Bethel
The Curtis Vikings played a crazy football game, according to its best player, in defeating Bethel, 27-23, last weekend. All-league offensive and defensive lineman Chris Edison had a different perspective of the game – on crutches on the sideline – than he usually does. Although he was out of the game with a high-ankle sprain suffered in week one of the season, he was not out of touch with what was going on out on the field. His team was dedicating their performance to him, and what he had seen after two quarters were moments of brilliant athleticism followed by moments of boneheadness by both teams, considered among the top contenders in the SPSL South.
