A Striking Pitcher

Wilson’s sophomore pitcher Janessa Flynn has been hearing a lot of accolades of late. She’s got a few of her own to share.

The Wilson High softball team midway through the 2010 season has proven it is the team to beat in the Narrows League. After defeating Bellarmine Prep 10-2 this week, the Rams stand at 8-0 in the league and have had victories over their two closest city opponents, with the victory against Bellarmine, and having defeated Stadium last week, 5-0. Cobras Prepare to Defend Title

The Tacoma Cobras begin their second season in the Professional Developmental Football League, with their league opening game coming on June 12 in Portland. The Cobras will be defending their league championship, an achievement that came with their 36-31 victory over the Bellingham Blitz last August. Read more...

Last week, Germe Poston of Franklin Pierce continued her searing season in high school track. The sprinter competed in a dual meet against Enumclaw and Clover Park and won both the 100 and 200-meter runs with the state-best times of 12.13 and 25.54. Read more...

Rainiers begin new season cooled by the weather and good pitching but warmed up for a split against Sky Sox

The roller coaster that was the Tacoma Rainiers’ opening home series held just about everything - two wins, two losses, lots of cold, a generous helping of nostalgia and three fireworks shows. There was not a rain delay, or any rain at all, but plenty of nasty, frigid wind and the only real warmth came for the Sunday afternoon game.
