Council should choose auditor from Democratic nominees

Selecting a new auditor for Pierce County has turned into a controversial matter. Pat McCarthy, the current auditor, will have to leave the position because she recently won the election for county executive.

Confusion has arisen due to the fact that when McCarthy was elected, first in 2002 and again in 2006, the auditor was a partisan position. McCarthy is a Democrat. In 2007 voters approved a change to the county charter that switched this to a non-partisan position.

Through Jan. 24 – “Treasures” features all of the Impromptu Gallery artists: Bill Colby miniatures prints, Betty Ragan photo collages, Dorothy McCuistion prints, Peter Serko and Bea Geller digital photos, Trinda Love paintings and hand-knit scarves, Becky Frehse paintings and LeeAnn Perry stone sculpture.
