TACOMA SCHOOL DISTRICT JOB FAIR
Tacoma Public Schools is hosting a job fair for various hourly positions.
Positions available include: playground supervisor, crossing guard and health clerk positions. The fair will be held Aug. 20 at the Central Administration Building in the fourth-floor auditorium. BACK-TO-SCHOOL FAIR
Students who attend various Tacoma elementary and middle schools are invited to a free back-to-school event held at People’s Park to get prepped for the new school year. There will be free school supplies for students from Browns Point, Crescent Heights, DeLong, Downing, Foss, Franklin, Geiger, Grant, Jason Lee, Jefferson, Lowell, Mason, McCarver, Meeker, Northeast Tacoma, Point Defiance, SAMI, Sherman, Skyline, Stanley, Truman, Whittier, Wilson and Wainwright. There will also be community resource information, games and live entertainment throughout the day. The free event is sponsored by World Vision, Tacoma Public Schools and local businesses. The Hilltop Back To School Festival is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 28 at People’s Park, 1100 S. Ninth St.
BATES HIGH SHOOL ACCREDITED
The Northwest Association of Accredited Schools has granted Bates Technical High School provisional accreditation for the 2010-11 school year. The accreditation allows Bates’ students to easily transfer credits to another high school program and use their diplomas when applying to a four-year college. The school provides options for students to earn their high school diploma and a college degree or certificate at the same time.
