We endorse Marty Campbell for the district 4 seat on Tacoma City Council. He owns two small businesses. Having the perspective of an entrepreneur on the council is fairly common in many cities, but it has become a rarity in Tacoma. The council has become almost entirely the domain of people who hold full-time employment in the public sector or non-profit organizations.

His involvement with Cross-District Business Association and New Tacoma Neighborhood Council will serve him well on the council.

His understanding of the role the arts play in the city’s vitality is another plus. He helped found the Tacoma Film Club and is a booster of festivals and cultural activities.

We are endorsing Joe Lonergan for the district 5 seat. In his interview for our candidate profile article, he seemed to have a stronger understanding of the issues facing both the council and his district in particular.

Victoria Woodards gets our endorsement for the at-large position 6. Serving on Metro Parks Commission for five years has given her valuable experience in local government. Her involvement in the community is extensive and her genuine concern for making Tacoma a better place to live is apparent.
