Haircuts for a Good Cause

The Office Bar and Grill hosted a unique event to raise money for leukemia research on March 21. Mike Combs, the former public assembly facilities director for the city of Tacoma, is a customer of the downtown establishment. His father died of leukemia in 1965. He and Eric McGahuey, a bartender at the Office, decided to switch hairstyles as a fundraiser. Customers donated $275, which Combs said a donor would match. Then they stepped outside, where stylist Megan Chambers awaited with the tools of her trade. She transformed McGahuey’s “mohawk” hair style into a crew cut. Next she shaved the sides of Combs’ head and spiked the hair on top, leaving him also with a mohawk.
