For some, it’s hard to find a career that melds passion and financial success. But Jen Lovelady and Kia Hanson made it a reality and they want to help others do it, too.
That’s the inspiration behind Success Unplugged USA, a motivational conference that shows women how to get their business flowing and lead more fulfilling lives. The event takes place Oct. 1 at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center (1500 Broadway in Tacoma).
Lovelady and Hanson met almost two years ago on Facebook and quickly became friends. They decided to become business partners utilizing their passions for networking, event planning, training and education. That same year they founded Success Unplugged USA to provide inspiration to aspiring women entrepreneurs.
Last year, the event drew 450 attendees and 75 vendors. This year, organizers hope to attract 650 women.
“We’re really targeting this for women 25 to 50 who want to better their lives and business,” Lovelady said. “We really have a heart to empower women in Washington.”
During the one-day conference, women will get tips on how to launch or expand their business ventures, including new marketing and sales techniques to help them attract more clients and customers online and offline. Participants will also receive new methods for adding passive income to their current business (or create one from scratch), new networking contacts for possible joint ventures and resources.
Participants will have the opportunity to listen as speakers, including Hanson and Lovelady, share their personal small business success stories.
“The idea is that we want ladies to unplug from their daily routine and into their passion again,” Lovelady said.
Other speakers include Klaudia Conradt, Vice President of Investments, Financial Advisor with UBS; Keith Kranc, who will speak about the top five ways to use social media for small businesses; Nems Scarim, marketing and branding expert; Jennifer Adams, who will speak about the critical elements of success beginning at home; Shari Hudspeth, who will speak about the power of goal setting; Amber Thiel, who will speak about turning obstacles into opportunity; and Jan Fulcher and Leslie Gilchrist, who will help participants find what “drives” them.
Although the conference focuses primarily on building businesses, it will also help women begin to reshape their lives.
“We’re teaching them how to juggle everything,” Lovelady said. “Sometimes we get stuck in a rut. Just being around other dynamic women helps.”
Space is limited. General admission tickets are $75; VIP tickets are $150 and include access to the Success Unplugged VIP party sponsored by Three Chicks Catering. For more information, visit www.successunpluggedusa.com or email email@example.com.
