The Country Rose Cafe, located in Spanaway, is celebrating its 20-year anniversary by giving back to the community. The homestyle restaurant has been a mainstay of the Spanaway area since Jan. 24, 1994. The restaurant has struck a chord with the community due to general manager Gary Wartter's standard for quality and portioning.
The restaurant is known for traditional homemade breakfast foods like omelets and pancakes, as well as burgers cooked to order and dinner foods like steak and pasta. The cafe is celebrating all month with several special offers. For starters, 20 cent coffee is being offered all throughout January, though getting it to go will set you back $1. The restaurant is also gearing up for several big raffles throughout the month. All January, the restaurant has been selling raffle tickets as a way to give back to the community.
“All the money from [the raffle tickets] goes to more items to buy for the raffle,” Wartter said.
The dedication to putting all the money back into the raffle has led to a variety of prizes, including a 50-inch JVC TV, a 3D DVD player and a swath of Seahawks jerseys. The winner of the raffle will be announced on Jan. 27, which is the official celebration of the cafe's 20 year anniversary. That same day, cake will be served for free all throughout business hours. The day will culminate with not only the month-long raffle winner being announced but a secondary raffle taking place only on that day. When someone buys a ticket for the main raffle, they receive a ticket for the secondary raffle at no charge. This secondary raffle will contain its own unique prizes, like a 37-inch TV and free movie passes.
“It's a way to say 'thank you for your business for the last 20 years,'” Wartter said.
