Teen theater group set to stage cancer benefit

A gaggle of movers and shakers in the middle school theater scene have formed their own theater troupe, Propbox Theatre Group, as an effort to stage “Beauty IS a Beast” by DM Larson, with special arrangement by as a way to raise money for cancer research.

All of the founders of the troupe are too young to drive, but that hasn’t stop them from trying to help their community. I credit their parents. (Oh yeah, that would be me. You are welcome, Tacoma.)

Auditions for male and female parts are open to teenagers between 11 and 18 and will be held April 20 by appointment only. To RSVP: email the assistant director an email at For your audition, prepare a 1-2 minute monologue. There are many speaking and nonspeaking parts.

Please also be aware that despite the fact that we are performing at the Knights of Pythias Lodge at 924 Broadway, Propbox Theatre Group has no affliction with Knights of Pythias other than one of their parents is a member and he cashed in a favor because that’s how he rolls. (Cough, cough, that would be me again. Hi Lodge brothers. Thanks.)

Performances will be in mid May.
