Tacoma PONY Baseball is proud to announce that league members, Tacoma Pioneers 10U Tournament Team, beat the Spokane All-Stars for the PONY Northwest Regional Championship on July 22 in Enumclaw.
The Tacoma Pioneers will be representing the entire PONY NW Region, that includes Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana, in the West Zone Tournament in Los Alamitos, Calif. beginning on July 26. The West Zone Series Champion will earn a birth at the PONY World Series the first week of August in Burleson, Texas.
Tacoma Pioneers played their regular season in the Tacoma PONY League, 10U Division, where teams play a 24-game season with a league championship tournament. “We are extremely proud of the Pioneers, who will be representing Tacoma at such a highly competitive tournament as the PONY West Series in Southern California. This is a major accomplishment for these 10U players and for youth baseball in this city,” stated League President Ryan Rhoads.
Pioneers’ Coach, Tom Jensen, adds “This is an exciting opportunity for our players and our baseball community. They have worked very hard to get to this juncture and we’re looking forward to seeing how we compete against some of the West Coast’s best youth baseball programs.”
A primary goal for Tacoma PONY Baseball is to provide an opportunity for teams to play at a higher level of competition in the South Sound region. Tacoma PONY is honored to have played a part in the growth and development of the PONY NW Regional Champions, Tacoma Pioneers.
