Tacoma hip-hop group ILLFIGHTYOU will make live debut on Seattle’s KEXP

As previously featured on the Weekly Mix Tape, ILLFIGHTYOU is a new Tacoma hip-hop group that's generated a bit of buzz despite having not played a single show. The hype comes partly from the individual members pedigrees: EvergreenOne is best known for teaming up with rapper/DJ Todd Sykes in City Hall, while Ugly Frank and Khris P hail from local collective, the Sandlot (basically, Tacoma's answer to Wu-Tang Clan.)

“Gertrude” and “92,” two solid cuts that have been leaked, via Sound Cloud,do little to dispel expectations. And I was looking forward to their scheduled debut gig on Dec. 15, an opening slot for national act RiFF RaFF at the Lochs; that is, until Riff, apparently, figured he'd make more money playing Seattle twice that night.

Still fans will get a chance to hear ILLFIGHTYOU perform live on Dec. 30 – albeit, from a distance – when the trio appears on Street Sounds, the Sunday night hip-hop show on Seattle's KEXP-FM (90.3). Their in studio performance is set for 8 p.m. that night; and since KEXP abandoned its Tacoma simulcast a while back, the best way to tune in the 253 is online, at

ILLFIGHTYOU won't make their club debut until Jan. 25, an opening gig for Tacoma's Breaklites at the Crocodile Cafe. But manager Andy Hyppa expects his boys to be plenty busy till then. They've been recording tracks with the Breaklites' John McRae producing, and Hyppa expects their debut album to be out by in early 2013.

And do we need to bother with the NSFW warning before you click the embedded video? They're rappers, people! They can't not curse.
