Suspect arrested in child porn investigation

Detectives from the Washington State Patrol Missing and Exploited Children’s Task Force have arrested a 36-year-old Tacoma man for dealing in images and video of sexually explicit material involving minors.

George R. Hanford was arrested and booked into the Pierce County Jail after detectives executed a search warrant on a Tacoma area home where Hanford resided.

The “peer to peer” investigation began after detectives discovered files containing known child pornography were being traded across the internet using file sharing networks. Upon further investigation, a search warrant was issued and directed detectives to a residence in Tacoma.

Detectives executed a search warrant the morning of March 27, on a residence in Tacoma. A forensic preview of the suspect’s computer confirmed the presence of illegal images and the file sharing program. The suspect was located leaving work, and following an interview was arrested for dealing in images containing sexually explicit conduct involving minors. During the search warrant, detectives seized digital media devices from the residence as evidence.

Hanford was booked into the Pierce County Jail on multiple charges of Possession and Distribution of Depictions of Minors Engaged in Sexually Explicit Conduct. The investigation is ongoing.
