Supporters to Host Town Hall on Citywide Paid Leave Ordinance

Healthy Tacoma will hold a Town Hall this Thursday to hear from community members about the need for a citywide paid sick and safe days ordinance to protect workers’ health and safety, and prevent the spread of disease.

The Healthy Tacoma Town Hall will be held at 6 p.m. on Sept. 12 at 3510 McKinley Ave. E. in Tacoma.

The event will include a panel discussion with state Representative David Sawyer (D-29); Andrew Wright, co-director of GI-Voice and an Iraq war veteran; Makini Howell, a local small business owner; and Lynda Foster, chair of Pierce County Young Democrats.

Healthy Tacoma is a coalition of more than 30 groups representing communities of color, labor, small business, civic, and faith organizations working to pass a citywide ordinance on Paid Sick Days and Safe Time for Tacoma workers and their families. Learn more at
