Doyle's Public House was the place to be in Stadium District on Saint Patrick's Day. The Guinness and Harp flowed freely, and a killer musical lineup kept the 4,000-square-foot circus tent organizers had set up in the parking lot rockin' all weekend.
Two of Tacoma's most popular rock bands, Mahnhammer and the F---ing Eagles, contributed raucous sets, sporting slightly different lineups than we're used to seeing. The former had just debuted new guitarist Mike Crum (Micho de Noche) on Friday night at Hilltop party house, the Dwell Hole, and this was his first public appearance with his new band.
The F---ing Eagles have added a gang of members over the years, to the point where they could probably hold their own in a rumble with Wu-Tang Clan. But, for the first time, they've subtracted from their ranks with the departure of bassist Kelly Michelson and backup singer Kim Linkert. They'll be missed. But the band still delivers as a six pack, as you can tell from the bootleg I shot of “Nothing But a Heartache,” a song from its sophomore disc “Midnight Sour.”
That album came out way back in 2009, and finally the band is taking steps toward a proper follow up. Band members say they recently laid down four new cuts that'll likely surface soon, either as 7-inches or a bonafide e.p. Sweet!
