Now that vehicles are using the permanent eastbound State Route 16 viaduct in Tacoma, crews will turn their attention to demolishing the nearby temporary viaduct. From 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, through 4:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, drivers can expect full closures of South Tacoma Way between Pine and Wilkeson streets. Motorists will detour to South Center Street. The closure is necessary so Washington State Department of Transportation contractor, Mowat Construction, can safely demolish portions of the temporary eastbound Nalley Valley viaduct that span over the city street.
