Sound Transit’s Sounder trains will serve three special events this weekend, making it easy for military parade attendees and sports fans to avoid weekend gridlock and save on gas and parking.
A special Sounder train will depart the Lakewood and South Tacoma stations on Saturday at 3 p.m. and 3:05 p.m. respectively, delivering parade goers to Freighthouse Square in Tacoma in plenty of time for “Celebrating Military Service” festivities that begin at 5 p.m.
The parade, which is being hosted by the City of Tacoma and the Daffodil Festival, starts at 6 p.m. The return train to Lakewood leaves Tacoma at 8:30 p.m. In honor of U.S. troops and their families, no fare will be charged for persons riding the military parade train.
Sound Transit will also run special Sounder trains Sunday to the Mariners vs Los Angeles Angels game at 1:10 p.m., and the Sounders FC vs Portland Timbers match at 7 p.m. Inbound trains to the Mariners game will depart Lakewood at 10:45 a.m. and Everett at 11:15 a.m. Inbound trains to the Sounders FC match will depart Lakewood at 4:45 p.m. and Everett at 5:15 p.m. Return trains for both events depart King Street Station 35 minutes after the games end.
