Relay for Life, the annual fundraiser for American Cancer Society, will take place from 6 p.m. on June 10 until 6 p.m. on June 11 at Mount Tahoma High School. The event started 27 years ago, right here in Tacoma, and is now the largest charitable fundraising event in the world. More than 160 teams will participate to raise money for cancer research, education and prevention. TV Tacoma, the city government channel, will bring live coverage of the event into the living rooms of area residents. There will be coverage of the opening ceremony, survivors/caregivers lap, the presentation of the Tom Mosich Leadership Award, the luminaria ceremony and closing festivities.
TV Tacoma is available on channel 12 in Tacoma and channel 21 in Pierce County, with the exception of University Place, where it can be found on channel 85 on Click Network.
