Randy Travis recovering from heart surgery, scheduled to appear at Emerald Queen next month

Country singer Randy Travis is in critical condition after undergoing a procedure for a heart condition, USA Today and other sources are reporting. Travis checked into a Dallas hospital Sunday after suffering complications from viral cardiomyopathy, a weakening of heart muscles caused by viral infection.

The Grammy Award-winning singer – best known for “Forever and Ever, Amen,” “On the Other Hand” and other hits – was in the midst of touring and is scheduled to make an Aug. 18 appearance at the Emerald Queen Casino. No official statement has been made regarding canceled tour dates, and Ticketmaster is still selling tickets for his Tacoma stop.
