Olympian Megan Jendrick has joined the Fife Swim Center as the new Aquatics Coordinator. Jendrick won two gold medals at the 2000 Summer Olympics, a silver medal from the 2008 Summer Olympics, and has set 27 American records and eight world records in her swimming career.
Jendrick will work with all facets of the Fife Swim Center’s aquatic programs, especially swimming instruction. This won’t be her first time partnering with the popular Fife Swim Center. She has long trained in the center’s saltwater pool and taught swim clinics for up and coming swimmers.
Jendrick’s new job is a natural fit. Fife Parks and Recreation Director Kurt Reuter says that Jendrick is well-known at the Center and is looked up to by many of the young swimmers. “Having an Olympian on staff is certainly a plus, but her ability to connect with the students and be a role model is an even bigger asset to our program,” Reuter said.
The Fife Swim Center is located at 5410-20th Street East. The 116,000 gallon main pool, two-foot deep wading pool and hot tub are all chlorinated with salt water, offering a great alternative to the harsh chemicals in traditional pools.
