“NOT ON OUR BUS” zero-tolerance emphasis is underway

Through Friday, Sept. 13, Pierce Transit Public Safety and Tacoma Police Department are implementing “NOT ON OUR BUS,” a zero-tolerance emphasis on unlawful and disruptive conduct on buses, at transit centers, and at bus stops near high schools.
Uniformed Pierce Transit Police, Pierce Transit Security Officers, Pierce Transit Service Supervisors and Tacoma Police Officers will increase their presence on buses and conduct spot checks of bus stops and boarding areas. Undercover Pierce Transit Police, Pierce Transit Security Officers, and Tacoma police officers will also be riding buses and monitoring transit centers to enforce the State of Washington’s Unlawful Transit Conduct Code, the City of Tacoma’s Unlawful Transit Conduct Code, and Pierce Transit ridership policies. Individuals who violate the Unlawful Transit Conduct Codes may be held immediately
accountable by exclusion from Pierce Transit services for 90 days.
The “NOT ON OUR BUS” effort was implemented in 2009 to address quality of life issues on buses, at transit centers, and at bus stops near certain high schools. The program has been highly successful and has yielded a safer transit environment for student passengers and the general public.
The following routes, facilities and schools will be prioritized, although the “NOT ON OUR BUS” emphasis might be expanded to other locations as needed:
Pierce Transit Routes:
1, 2, 10, 11, 16, 42, 51, 53
Pierce Transit Facilities:
