The eight neighborhood councils in Tacoma will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the program on Sept. 27 from 5-7:30 p.m. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place at Asia Pacific Cultural Center, 4851 South Tacoma Way. "This is a celebration of civic engagement at the neighborhood level," Mayor Marilyn Strickland said. "Tacoma is a city poised for great progress over the next few decades, and our neighborhood councils recognize the power that individuals have to bring about positive, lasting change. We always welcome new voices that bring creative and innovative ideas to the table."
