More Music and Art in Wright Park benefits this weekend, festival lineup taking shape

The lineup for Music and Art at Wright Park is starting to firm up. Cody Foster - one of the festival's organizers, and the namesake of local punk-metal trio Cody Foster Army - confirmed that Kramer, Mahnhammer, Blanco Bronco, Deathbed Confessions, Furry Buddies, the Hunt, Big Wheel Stunt Show, the Purrs and Mosquito Hawk are among the regional bands that will play Tacoma's Wright Park on Aug. 10.

The festival is very D.I.Y., and the latest in a series of fundraisers will be held this weekend. The first is tonight at the New Frontier Lounge, featuring performances by the Dignitaries, Ranchero and C.F.A. Music will start after 9 p.m. Admission is $5, with a dollar discounted for donation of an item that can be sold at the forthcoming MAWP Yard Sale fundraiser, which will be held in Tacoma at 4814 N. 30th St. on June 22 and 23.

You must be 21 or older to attend that show. But on Saturday, June 1, Kramer, the Fabulous Downey Brothers, A Leaf, Humble Cub and Dava Tara will play an all-ages pot luck benefit show at Sandford & Son Antiques. Doors open at 5 p.m., and there will be a $5 cover for that one, waived for folks who bring a dish for the pot luck.

In addition, MAWP organizers have been accepting donations for the yard sale event at both Supernova locations, at 817 Division Ave. and 632 St. Helens Ave., and at Bluebeard Coffee, 2201 Sixth Ave. "We are looking for gently used items of all spectrums, but we encourage art and music related items," Foster says.
