Immigration rally set for Tacoma members and immigration-reform supporters will visit the Tacoma offices of Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell offices at 2 p.m. April 3 to deliver a petition calling for fair, comprehensive immigration reform measures that provide a path to citizenship for undocumented, but otherwise law-abiding, people who have been living in this country for some time.

The rally will gather outside the Tacoma offices, at the corner of South 11th Street. and Pacific Avenue.

The petition, signed by some 150 state residents, urges the senators to support comprehensive immigration reform measures that will provide a pathway to citizenship and keep families together.

“The people of Washington state want our U.S. Senators, Murray and Cantwell, to support and ensure that the U.S. Senate introduces and passes an immigration bill that provides a reasonable, just pathway to citizenship that keeps families together,” said organizer Linda Serafini-Gale. “It would be unjust to support a bill which would result in a second class tier of workers who would most likely continue to be victims of poor working conditions, threats, detention centers, and extremely low pay by U.S. employers and private prisons who take advantage of the present immigration system.”
