Free tax assistance available for low to moderate income families

Free tax help is available for low and moderate income families and individuals on Feb. 8. That's when the IRS VITA Program (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), Key Bank, Tacoma Goodwill and the Pierce County Building Coalition will team up from 9 a.m. To 3 p.m. for Super Refund Saturday, an event that will be held at Milgard Work Opportunity Center, 714 S. 27th St., in Tacoma.

The free service is to encourage more taxpayers to take advantage of special tax credits for which they may qualify this year, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit and Credit for the Elderly or the Disabled.

Following Super Refund Saturday, the partnership will continue offering free tax preparation at Milgard for families earning up to $52,000 / year every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 3:30 to 7 p.m., through April 15. Visit for more information.
