The Tacoma Fire Department firefighters and supporters filled the the Greater Tacoma Convention & Trade Center today for the swearing in of Chief James P. Duggan as the City of Tacoma’s 21st Fire Chief.
City Manager T.C. Broadnax appointed Duggan to the permanent position of Tacoma Fire Chief after he served on an interim basis for the past six months, following the retirement of former chief Ronald W. Stephens.
A native of Tacoma, Duggan holds a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from the University of Washington, a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Puget Sound, and attended graduate school at M.I.T. Duggan is a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs and Washington State Fire Chiefs. He graduated from Wilson High School.
