Anonymous donor offers to match donations to Samdhana-Karana Yoga

An anonymous donor has come forward at Samdhana-Karana Yoga (3014 6th Ave.) willing to match donations up to $1,000 that come in between now and June 11, the day of the non-profit yoga center’s First Annual Summer Sun Relay fundraiser. This is a great opportunity to help the studio multiply its donations during these trying economic times.

All funds raised for the relay will go to support Samdhana-Karan’s mission to provide free and reduced yoga classes for all community members; reduced cost lessons for children with ADHD, autism and other challenges; and to make teachers available to teach yoga at community organizations for people in transition.

Interested participants are asked to build a team or join a team through the studio. Find people to sponsor your team and start collecting donations. Suggested team goal is $200 – for example, a team of four will reach $200 if each team member raises $50. Each team member asks five people to donate $10 each or ask 10 people to donate $5 each. And don’t stop there – all proceeds support Samdhana-Karan’smission. All donations are tax deductible.

At the relay, team members will do 108 Sun Salutations relay style. The sun salutes will be divided into nine sets of 12. Team members will rotate after each set of 12 or whatever number of sun salutes that feel best for them. Sun Salutes are a series of movements that involve contraction and expansion of the body and can be modified to your ability. Registration is from 11-11:45 a.m. Sun Salutes begin at noon and will go until 2:30 including savasana.

To make a donation and find out more about the relay, visit or call (253) 254-6157.
