BIG WHEEL AND JAMES COATES
Check out the Big Wheel Stunt Show will team as they team up with James Coates for what promises a highlight of Tacoma’s summer concert line-up. Starts at 8 p.m. at Jazzbones - 2803 6th Ave. 21 and older only, $7 at the door.
MOVIE IN THE PARK
This week’s installment features hit family film “Finding Nemo” at Stewart Heights Park (402 E. 56th St.). Grab some lawn chairs, bring the family and friends to enjoy an outdoor movie in Tacoma’s parks. Movies begin at dusk. Admission is free. Info: www.metroparkstacoma.org.
Saturday, Aug. 6
Skimboarders will be shredding in University Place at the Chambers Creek Throwdown on Aug. 6. The competition begins at 1 p.m. There are cash prizes for the professional and amateur divisions, with $150 going to the amateur who takes first place. Registration begins at noon. Cost to enter is $20 for either division.
Tacoma’s newest carshow opens at 10 a.m. Saturday outside of the New Frontier Lounge. Up to 200 pre-1969 classic cars can register day of the event for $20. Spectators, come out for a day of vintage car appreciation, live music, pin-up chicks and more through the afternoon and well into the night. More info at www.therebelriot.com.
The Proctor Arts Fest and sidewalk sale is back with a diverse lineup of events throughout the day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. In addition to a number of live performances, the event will feature a farmers market, food vendors, arts and crafts, and a juried art show. CAR COLLECTOR’S SHOWCASE
Check out even more classic rides at America’s Car Museum headquarters in Fife. The show will feature 12 classes, ranging from stock antique cars through present-day sports cars. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission: $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-12 and active military, and free for museum members. ACM headquarters is located at 3701 20th St. E. in Fife.
