MAKE TACOMA BEAUTIFUL

The Economic Incentives for Façade Restoration Workshop is from 9 a.m. to noon on Aug. 6 at Stonegate Pizza, 5419-21 South Tacoma Way. This workshop showcases resources that can assist property owners with the rehabilitation process: the brick and mortar of façade restoration, financial incentives from the city's special tax valuation and façade improvement programs, and case studies from property owners that have transformed their buildings. Join architects, city staff, and experienced property owners at this free workshop. MARSHA GLAZIERE PAINTINGS

There are only a few days left to see an exhibit of paintings by acclaimed Seattle artist Marsha Glazière at the Fine Arts Gallery at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom. The free show ends Aug. 11. Glazière’s mixed media drawings, paintings, and sculpture are done in a contemporary style that marries natural and urban landscapes and themes. The Fine Arts Gallery is located at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom, 9401 Farwest Dr. S.W., Lakewood. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to noon Friday.

INDEPENDENT FILM

The Grand Cinema will be the only movie house in the country honoring the winners of Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces of Independent Film” awards with a film festival Aug. 19-25.
