WORKSHOPS WITH Q-DOT
Tacoma funk/rap/hip hop artist and vice-president of Tre'dmark Music Q-Dot (Quincy Henry) will hold free StoryLab Workshops for teens 13-20 from 4-7 p.m. on Jan. 19, Feb. 2 and 16 and March 1 in the Olympic Room at the main Tacoma Public Library. Funded through a grant from the Paul G. Allen Foundation, the workshop will focus on the poetry, the beats, the words and the rhymes, the business, finding your voice and keeping it real, putting it out there, getting it heard, making it sizzle and making it work. DOCKYARD DERBY DAMES
Dockyard Derby Dames with open their sixth season with a bout Jan. 21 at Pierce College-Fort Steilacoom. The double-header will pit the Marauding Mollys against the Trampires and the Hellbound Homewreckers against the Femme Fianna. Doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the door or $12 online through Brown Paper Tickets.
'PETER AND THE WOLF'
Tacoma Symphony Orchestra will offer a Family Concert at 3 p.m. on Jan 21 at Urban Grace Church. The concert will feature Sergei Prokofiev's beloved "Peter and the Wolf," narrated by Broadway Center for the Performing Art's David Fischer. The latest in the sinfully funny series, Sister is now offering lessons on the sacraments of marriage and last rites, including a wacky version of "The Newlywed Game."
