THE ‘NEW’ TACOMA ART SUPPLY
Tacoma Art Supply and Framing has relocated to a new home at 728 Broadway, Suite A, on Tacoma’s Antique Row just up from Tully’s Coffee. Stop in to see the new digs and check out a few liquidation sales, as the shop makes room for more art supply goodies. Visit www.tacomaartsupply.com to learn more, or call(253) 444-2341.
13g FLOTATION INSTALLATION
This is your chance to participate in a unique floating art installation project at the 7th annual Urban Art Festival, June 25-26 from noon to 9 p.m. The organizers of this project have been given a generous area of the festival grounds to create the gallery, so there will be plenty of room for the installation to twist and turn, bind and wind. Here are the guidelines/info for the project: Art work must weigh no more than 13g and have a secure hole (top and bottom) to attach light test fishing string to it from both sides. Your artwork will float inside a 1-foot diameter, clear helium balloon. Tent stakes placed in the ground will secure your art from floating into the ionosphere. Only one submission per person please. Artists can use any medium as long as it can float and has proper holes to attach fishing line. The helium, clear balloons, tent stake and light test fishing line will be provided. Entry deadline is June 23 at 2:53 p.m. Questions? E-mail Matt Ecklund at pacificfusion253@gmail.com.
FLORA & FINE ARTS
Artwork from Tacoma Art Museum’s permanent collection serves as inspiration for floral arrangements created by prominent local designers in Flora & Fine Arts on June 11 and 12. This special, one-weekend-only exhibition showcases nearly three dozen floral designs exhibited with the iconic works of Northwest art that sparked the floral artists. Includes a special exhibition preview June 10 and the Spring into Summer Garden Festival June 11 with workshops, hands-on art-making activities, and lectures by notable garden expert Ed Hume and Seattle Times garden columnist and author Valarie Easton.
