DreamWreck to play Louie G.’s

// Quartet of seasoned musicians play that funky music to a rock ‘n’ roll beat

If the end of the world indeed ends up happening on Dec. 21, go out with a bang at Louie G.’s. That evening, the band DreamWreck, a side project of Heart drummer Ben Smith, will bring their funky rock ‘n’ roll to the stage for an evening of great originals and some old, retro beauties. Crazy Texas Gypsies opens. Doors open at 8 p.m. and cover is $7.

The idea for DreamWreck started a couple of years ago between longtime friends Smith and accomplished Northwest musician, composer and producer Brooke Lizotte. They wanted to make some music together and perform with good friends, and so it began. They called on two talented friends – Jon Bayless (vocals/bass) and Rod Cook (vocals/guitars) to fill out the group.

In addition to drumming for Heart, Smith is also a vocalist whose credits are many, including the soundtrack for the film “Almost Famous” with Bayless. Lizotte, on piano, organ and vocals, has worked with greats like Jennifer Hudson, Leona Lewis and Dan Reed, along with his work on soundtracks including “Last Night,” “Sex and the City 2” and “Happily N’Ever After.” Bayless also has a long list of music, film and soundtrack credentials to his long career, while Cook, too, is widely known for his skills including playing with Little Bill and in the Vicci Martinez band. All four players have made names for themselves over the years in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

Crazy Texas Gypsies have four things going for them that make for a killer combination: great lyrics, incredible guitar, Hammond B3 and a soul-stirring rhythm section. Crazy Texas Gypsies are: Kenney Williams, Billy Barner, Kevin Fraser and Doug Skoog
