Come one, come all to the 4th Annual Hilltop Arts Night Out A free community event for all ages

Hilltop Artists invites you to enjoy a free, fun-filled night of glassblowing, music, chalk art, dance performances, skateboarding clinics, an urban T-shirt design booth and food by Masa at Jason Lee Middle School (602 N. Sprague Ave.) Aug. 7 from 4-8 p.m. This promises to be unlike any arts event you've ever seen before, so bring your friends and family – but leave your pasta necklaces, popsicle sticks and preconceptions at home.

This community-centered event brings a variety of arts and activities to your own backyard. New to this year's program, in affiliation with Skate Like A Girl, there will be a number of skateboarding clinics taught by experts. Don't let the kids have all the fun! Safety equipment for all ages will be provided.

If skateboarding isn't your thing, make sure to check out the urban T-shirt design booth and chalk art competition, or be amazed by talented student glass artists. Also don't miss seeing a dance performance by local youth students of DASH Center.

During the festivities Hilltop Artists will be presented with a check from the Walmart State Giving Council for $25,000 to support the program, which combines art, academic support and job training to create a unique opportunity for youth. With this money Hilltop Artists will be able to engage more than 300 Tacoma youth in its Jason Lee Hot Shop program, which provides wrap around services and tuition-free classes in hot glass arts to students.

Hilltop Arts Night Out will run in conjunction with Safe Streets' 29th Annual National Night Out Against Crime in Tacoma-Pierce County, so don't be alarmed if you see local police officers, firefighters or community governmental personnel there as well. Have fun while getting to know your neighbors and the people who work to make our community safer.

Jason Lee Middle School is located at 602 North Sprague Avenue.
