Billy Gardell brings his stand-up comedy routine to Emerald Queen Casino on Aug. 10. He is known for his role in the CBS situation comedy show “Mike and Molly.” The show begins at 8:30 p.m. Tickets range from $25-60.


Take the short drive north to Seattle Aug. 11 and 12 for Geek Girl Con at the Conference Center at Washington State Convention Center. Dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the contributions of women in all aspects of geek culture, the Con features renowned comic book writers and special guests, presentations and moderated roundtable discussions, exhibitors and vendors, artists alley, gaming, a masquerade ball and much more. Customers are uniting for a cause after the AMOCAT Café at 625 Saint Helens Ave. suffered a recent burglary. The café will be holding a special live music night starting at 7 p.m. Aug. 10. This special night brings appearances by: Amy Bleu, Joe Holcomb, Beatrice Ensunsa, Volkert Volkersz and The Collaborators, with Jessica Reid and Leslie Young on the mic.


People of all ages will converge at People’s Park on Aug. 11 for the fifth annual Hip Hop in the Park event from noon to 6 p.m. Along with students from DASH Center for the Performing Arts, this family friendly day in the park includes UPC All Stars featuring Angel Mitchell, E-Rich, Tiny Dousha and Vic Hashim, Josh Rizeberg and AWOL. Headlining the event will be Xola aka Kid Sensation featured in the song “Posses on Broadway” done by Sir Mix-A-Lot. Enjoy local food, retail, arts and crafts and community vendors throughout the day as well.
