BENEFIT FOR SARAH
A music benefit will be rockin’ at Louie G’s Pizzeria on Sept. 28 for six-year-old Sarah, who has Muscular Dystrophy. Bands include Sevens Revenge, Angel Steel and Amanda Hardy Band. All proceeds will go to Sarah and her family who will be attending the benefit. All ages welcome, 8 p.m., $5 at the door. Louie G’s is at 5219 Pacific Hwy., Fife.
BLUEGRASS AT THE MARKET
A first-ever live music event called MarketGrass is coming to Proctor Farmers Market on Sept. 29, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The music tent will be festive with the down-home sounds of The Pine Hearts and Tattered Dress, along with a kids jam from 11 a.m. to noon. The Chinese Reconciliation Park Pagoda (at the eastern end of Ruston Way) will host the Tacoma Moon Festival on Sept. 29, 2-9:00 p.m. The Moon Festival is a popular Asian celebration of abundance and togetherness dating back more than 3,000 years to China’s Zhou Dynasty. The eighth annual Oktoberfest Northwest presented by Emerald Queen Casino begins Oct. 5 at the Puyallup Fair and Events Center and runs through Oct. 7. While the event has the traditional elements of an authentic Oktoberfest celebration, there is also a lot of family fun planned for the weekend: pumpkin decorating, arts and crafts with the German School of Tacoma, a kids’ version of the Oktoberfest NW original Hammerschlagen, free face painting, a root bier garden serving keg-poured Crater Lake root beer and floats, treats and snacks. Oct. 7 admission is half off and features the fifth annual Oktoberfest Wiener Dog Races and the first ever Northwest 5k Stein Dash. All ages are welcome at Oktoberfest until 7 p.m. on Oct. 5 and 6 and all day Oct. 7. After 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, guests must be 21. WALK FOR HUNGER
The 32nd Annual Associated Ministries Hunger Walk, the largest walk for hunger on the West Coast, happens Oct. 7 at Fort Steilacoom Park in Lakewood. Registration begins at noon, run begins at 1 p.m. and walk begins at 2 p.m. More info at http://www.associatedministries.org.
