Since opening in early December, Jazzy’s Café has become a welcome addition to Tacoma’s coffeehouse community, offering products not often found in your typical shop, from beer and wine to gourmet sandwiches. Sumner-based Dillanos Coffee Roasters provides the beans for a full menu of espresso beverages, and Jazzy’s also offers a variety of blended frappes, smoothies and energy drinks.
Mike’s East Coast Sandwiches and salads are delivered fresh daily, along with bagels, soups, pastries and a variety of desserts.
Although Jazzy’s provides a welcoming, refreshing ambiance that is perfect for camping out with a computer for a few hours, General Manager D’Misha Miller wants to go above and beyond the typical coffee shop services by hosting events, meetings, seminars and more. “We’re a local small business, and we want to be a part of the small business community in Tacoma,” Miller said.
Jazzy’s offers a private conference room equipped with conference call capabilities, Wi-Fi and projection screens in a comfortable, quiet setting. The room can be reserved for $25 per hour, which includes carafes of unlimited coffee and water. Catering can be provided from the Jazzy’s menu or coordinated with an outside vendor. “We want each experience to be tailored directly to what each client needs,” Miller said.
Jazzy’s has already hosted a variety of networking events, receptions, parties and more. With just Miller and two other employees, the team works hard to ensure customers are satisfied, providing top-notch beverages and personalized customer service, as well. Miller’s years of experience working in coffee shops through college and beyond has made her a familiar face to many local coffee connoisseurs and garnered even more support for her new venture. In fact, Miller was packed and ready to move cross-country when she received a phone call from Jazzy’s owner Patrick Hughes of The Hughes Group, asking if she would be interested in running the café. “I came here to look at the space, which was just a shell at the time – but fell in love with it,” she said. “Now, we’re just three hard-working young girls trying to do it all.”
Jazzy’s Café is located at 3701 S. Lawrence St. The shop is open Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information or to reserve a meeting space, call (253) 592-6169.
