// Local musicians to raise funds for Tacoma painter recovering from accident

On Oct. 29, Tacoma painter Euphoria Marie Sorensen was struck by a car while walking on the 200 block of North 'G' Street. As she recuperates, her friends are throwing a musical fundraiser for her on Dec. 9, at the New Frontier Lounge, 301 E. 25th St., Tacoma. The Tacoma resident is still recuperating in the intensive care unit at St. Joseph Medical Center, according to friend Dave Graham, who helped organized this weekend's benefit show.
“She is in bad shape still,” he said. “She broke several ribs. Her left arm and elbow are pretty messed up and she has to have several surgeries. And she had to have one of her lungs removed.” Graham said the goal of the show and a related page is to raise at least $5,000 to help Sorensen pay for bills. “She's not working,” Graham said. “Hopefully, this will pay for expenses so she doesn't lose her home.” The lineup includes A Leaf, Death By Stars, Looking for Lizards, Deborah Page and DJ Melodica. The show starts at 3 p.m., and organizers are asking for a $5 donation at the door. There will also be a silent auction and raffle; (253) 572-4020 or for further details.
